Riverside Animal Hospital has a cutting edge procedure that not only will save your pet's teeth and gums , but save you some money!
Since the tartar is early, there is no gum disease at this time. That means there should be no extractions or pain associated with a dental cleaning if done now instead of letting it progress. New sedation techniques and specific monitoring protocols allow us to perform quick procedures without the need of full anesthesia. This means we do not require preanesthetic blood testing, IV catheterization, fluids, pain medications, and full anesthesia. This translates into lower costs.
A Sedation Prophy cost ranges between $110 and $130 and we can successfully remove the mild to moderate tartar build-up, polish the teeth, apply fluoride paste, and apply protective wax coating while your pet is quietly relaxed. This is a savings of at least $100-$200 over a full anesthetic dental procedure. We can even reverse the sedation so that in 30 minutes, your pet can be up and alert with a bright, clean smile and fresh breath.
Note* On a RARE occasion, a cavity or gum situation is found during the Sedation Prophy that was not visible on this exam. If mild, we can often resolve the problem or extract the tooth with local Novocain. We will contact you if this occurs.
